Only you can answer that because only you know what you’re looking for.

Here is my list of the best hair care forums online-a few specialise in certain hair types e.g. natural only. Some require a subscription for extra allowances e.g. posting in certain areas, displaying your own avatar, signature or images, etc.

Key rules for posting on a forum: be respectful, keep it clean, and do not push your luck. Read the rules BEFORE you post, or you risk suspension or exclusion down the line. It is their website. They are paying the bills, not you, so play nice and you’ll fit in without any hassle.

–All hair types (relaxed, natural, etc)–

Black Hair Media

For every hair type there is: natural, relaxed, texturised, hair extensions, etc. Every one has its own section. An extra bonus is the various other sections to chat in- entertainment, relationships, politics, fitness, and much more. My name is HEAVENSEVENTEEN over there, so feel free to add me as a friend, send me a private message or anything else. No subscription required whatsoever!

Long Hair Care Forums

For every hair type there is: natural, relaxed, texturised, hair extensions, etc. This time they are all in the same section, so you need to go through the topics to find the one that applies to you. There are five other areas besides the main hair care section: a marketplace, fitness, make-up, fashion and Christian. I am not a member of this website because I had joined so many others, but I still regularly visited it.

–Natural hair only–

Nappturality

There is a strong ‘pro natural’ vision on this website. Some find it off putting, but I feel comfortable over there. If you want to discuss hair straightening, weak hair chemical processing or anything that is unnatural, this is not the place for you. The focus here is purely being natural and loving every minute of it, not changing your hair to do something else. There is a lot of useful natural content here, and other areas such as employment, entertainment, etc, so read as much as you can. If you get stuck, don’t be afraid to ask for help! My name on the website is SUNRISESUNSET, so feel free to add me as a friend, send me a private message or anything else. A subscription is required for some areas, with prices as low as $3 per month.

C Nappy Me Now

Another great natural hair care forum. The rules are less strict over, but the focus is still on loving your natural texture. Once again, there are places for talk beyond hair care. This forum does not have as many members as the others, but that gives it a nice cosy feel, more like family- instead of knowing a few with strangers, you feel close to everybody. If you get stuck, don’t be afraid to ask for help! My name on the website is SUNRISESUNSET, so feel free to add me as a friend, send me a private message or anything else.

If you have a hair care forum to add to the list, send an email to ivory@healthyblackqueens.com. Not everyone will be added because we need to adhere to a strict criteria, but it does not hurt to try. If you fall short, we will give you FREE tips on how to improve your website. Feel free to resubmit a few months later.
